Contemporary Christian Music?

Hi there. I've jus got some cd's from Amazon, most of them contemporary christian music. there are more on the way. i think its really interesting how, if you listen, the lyrics can speak to you, and make you think, they sometimes make me rethink my ideas about christianity, which i wont go into also. my question is, does anyone listen to this genre of music? and does it make you think differently about anything?

Yes. It definitely made an impact on my faith. It probably made me realize that God was real and wants to be involved with our lives.

Thats cool. What artists would you listen to?

Post 5 by motifated (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 22-Jul-2007 6:17:35

Several, actually, but I'd say probably some of my favorites are Stephen Curtis chapman, Rich Mullens, and Third day. Those are the ones that come to mind with no coffee yet today.

I don't have a very big collection, and most of it is metal. Groups like Haven, Fear Not, Novela, Bloodgood, Stryper, Petra and Whitecross to name a few. But there are a couple non metal artists that I've taken a liking to, Cherry Keaggy, Jaci Velasquez.

Post 7 by japanimangel1 (Veteran Zoner) on Monday, 30-Jul-2007 12:26:49

The artists that i like are KJ52, crystal myers, rachael lampa, and probably more that I just can't think of right this second

Hey, I like casting Crowns, Cris Rice, Michael W Smith, and Tree 63

Post 9 by Cousin Cap (Zone BBS Addict) on Friday, 03-Aug-2007 12:15:06

This is probably a very loose way to define CCM, but I'm not into many of the harder, mainstream artists. I'm a fan of Chris Rice, Fernando Ortega, and John Michael Talbot.

I don't specifically listen to this kind of music regularly or anything, but I used to have a tape of DC Talk that I liked, and I have a CD of Michael W Smith that I also like. I've listened to parts of songs from other artists in the Christian rock genre though, and I like it. Casting Crowns sounds cool and there are some others I can't think of at the moment who's CD's I would want. I think if I started listening to this music more, it would help make me a better person/Christian since it seems more positive and/or at least thought-provoking.

I like Nichole Nordeman, Chris Rice, Twila Parris, Michael W. Smith, and a ton more of them. I listen to many genres of music, and CCM is one of them.

I love contemporary Christian music! It played a huge role in turning me to Christianity in the first place, and it definitely makes me think. Relient K, Skillet, Jeremy Camp, Barlo Girl, Nevertheless, Casting Crowns just to name a few.

Post 13 by blw1978 (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Sunday, 06-Jan-2008 19:01:38

I do like CCm, but I am extremely picky about it. Some of the lyrics are just totally dumb in my oppinion. but I suppose that's true of any genre, you'll find some good and some bad lyrics. as far as artists, I like Dc Talk, some Michael W. Smith, Some Jeremy Kamp A lot of Casting crowns, the David Crowder band, Jars of clay and a lot of Kutless. Some of the more metal stuff seems fake to me, but that's just my oppinion. I've heard some incredibly moving CCM songs.

Some of my favorite ccm artists include:
Casting crowns, MercyMe, Rachael Lampa, Nichole Nordeman, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, and a group I don't hear mentioned alot probably cuz they're older but I also like Sellah alot too.
I think christian music has some of the most beautiful and moving lyrics, some of them have even made me cry. Why by Nichole Nordeman is a good example. It's also nice to hear mainstream songs make it into the christian genre as well with songs such as god is great by martina mcBride, and Jesus take the wheel by Carrie Underwood. And it's also great to see some of the christian artists make it into the mainstream. I feel this kind of music needs to get out more and more people should hear the wonderful lyrics and words this genre has to offer.

I
like mainstream CCM, usually stuff found on KLove. There's a sense of piece i feel and i find i even treat people nicer when i listen to this music. I go through faizes ware its all i hear, then i stopp and yeah. i'm all over the place with that one. But yes, recently as of December 2007 its become one of the faves for me. Artests include 33 Miles, Casting Crowns, Fee, Tree 63, David Crowder Band, Philips, Craig and Dean, Plus One. Most of the stuff i like is the hit songs, as i said. I've found other stations i like to listen too: 99.1 WAWZ, 88.7 WMYZ, 104.7 WFSH, 88.5 KLJC and 89.7 KCVQ. I've also heard Spearet 66 on Serious and XM 32 the message. but the one i like most is KLove found at KLove.com

Hmm. It's kind of late to be thinking. Oh well, I can try. I like Relient K, Kutless, Hawk Nelson and bands like that.
I have heard of 10th Avenue North. They are from Florida.

Do you like them?

Post 27 by Twinklestar09 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Monday, 19-Oct-2009 20:16:20

I've been listening to this music more nowadays, well mostly on the computer anyway, since all we have in regular radio is more of soft rock and R&B type stuff for our CCM station. Anyway, I just found out about this Christian rock band that I really ended up to like called 38th Parallel. They were only around for a short time and are not together anymore, but I found and heard a song by them called "Let Go", and I think that song was pretty cool; I really like it. *smile* They also only have one CD out that I know of, and I want to get it. *smile* Besides that, I've heard several songs from 12 Stones, Reliant K, Ace Troubleshooter, Decyfer Down, FM Static, and Falling Up, and I like those bands as well.

Post 28 by Twinklestar09 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Tuesday, 20-Oct-2009 6:06:36

This is probably not that important, but I just wanted to correct something on my last post. *smile* 38th Parallel actually has more than one CD out; I found that out when looking for some of their songs on Myspace. So anyways, but yeah, I think they're a cool band. *smile*

I know a bit about CC music.

There's that song called "My Redeemer Lives" which has the entertaining line near the end "I spoke with him this morning". It's the way it's sang it puts m smile on my face.

Then there's that neocon song Orphans of God with the lyrics "so many fallen, hallelujah, we are all orphans of God". If I was an extreme leftist I'd say it sums up American foreign policy under George W. Bush perfectly.

Most Christian music I've heard, including all Christian rock, is boring.

I like the song "The Revalation Song.' It's really powerful.

Smith, BB and CC Winans, Petra, Jars of Clay, Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin, Anointed, Hillsong and so many more. I really like Praise and Worship the most. Now that's moving music to me.
